IT Support Engineer
Location: Naoero Island

Job Summary:
The IT Support Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer hardware, software, networks, and hospital information systems.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Helpdesk & End-User Support
Respond to and resolve IT support tickets, calls, and walk-in requests from hospital staff in a timely manner.
Provide first- and second-level technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and mobile devices.
Troubleshoot software issues (operating systems, Microsoft Office, hospital applications). Set up new user accounts, email accounts, and access permissions in line with hospital policy.
Train staff on basic use of IT systems and equipment as needed.
2. Hardware & Equipment Maintenance
Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, CCTV, Biometric and other peripherals.
Perform routine preventive maintenance on IT equipment across all hospital departments (wards, OPD, laboratory, pharmacy, administration, etc.).
Manage IT asset inventory, including tracking of equipment location, condition, and warranty status.
Coordinate repairs with vendors for equipment under warranty or requiring specialized service.
3. Network & Connectivity Support
Monitor and support the hospital’s local area network (LAN), wireless network (Wi Fi), and internet connectivity.
Troubleshoot network connectivity issues for workstations, printers, and networked medical devices.
Assist with the installation and maintenance of network cabling, switches, and access points.
Support telephone systems used within the hospital.
4. Other responsibilities
Apply basic security measures on workstations (antivirus updates, patching, password policies).
Monitor for and report suspicious activity, security incidents, or data breaches to the IT Manager.
Coordinate with biomedical engineering staff/vendors on equipment requiring network or software integration.
Support software licensing tracking and renewals.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain IT documentation and ensure systems are updated and secure.
6. General Duties
Provide after-hours or on-call IT support during emergencies, system outages, or critical incidents, as required.
Assist with IT-related aspects of new department setups, office relocations, or facility upgrades.
Perform other IT-related duties as assigned by the IT Manager.
Requirements:
Diploma or Certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Degree preferred).
3-5 years of experience in an IT support role; healthcare/hospital IT experience is an advantage.
Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, networking fundamentals (LAN/Wi-Fi), and basic hardware troubleshooting.
