Apple has finally admitted what early adopters of its iphone 4S handset have known for while: there’s a serious problem with its battery life.

Compared with the older iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S seems to struggle make it through a day on a single charge, dispite a slightly larger battery and a supposedly more energy-efficient processor.

Apple has now publicly confirmed that it’s a real problem, and has some good news for iPhone 4S owners; it’s a prblem with the software, not a hardware.

As a result, iPhone 4S owners won’t need to book an appointment with the Genius Bar or send their handsets off for repair.

“We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life.” the company confired in a press statement.

Shortly after the announcement, Apple released the iOS 5.0.1 operating system update to fix the problem. This update can be performed simply over the air(OTA). using the phone’s menus, rather than having to go through the hassle of using iTunes.
